Inquiry Reports

Introduction

This report focuses on what are hiccups and how to stop them.

Body

This is a common condition characterised by the repeated involuntary spasmodic contractions of the diaphragm, followed by sudden closure of the glottis which checks the inflow of the air and produced the characteristic sounds.

You can stop the hiccups by 1 teaspoon of sugar, swallowed fast. If the hiccups don’t stop right away do it 3 or more times, once every 2 minutes. For younger children, use 1 teaspoon or corn syrup, or babies a swallow of water. You may need to have the child lie down.

Conclusion

I hope you learnt something from hiccups.
